Last year, on December 17th, we had a massive weekend. Pendulum played in Newcastle on the Thursday night, Caroline had her 21st on the Friday night, and I had my 20th on the Saturday night. Our first big party at the house, it started off a small, good crowd. Simon, Kash, Tobes and Chook came up from Sydney, and the newy kids were there, including the Waratah girls. We went down to the gazebo on the foreshore at sunset as one big group to have some drinks, and for the boys to reveal some particularly embarrassing secrets about my teenage years.
By this stage i was getting quite drunk. I went over on the ferry with Simon, where we had a drink at the brewery, and Jesus and a couple of mates turned up, with their supplies for the party. We all got back to the house, and about 15 more people had arrived, Gab, Sarah Terry, etc., etc., which was an unexpected surprise. After that, to town, and i cant quite remember what happened. Good times though.
Christmas was great, just a good relaxed family environment. I got a little job selling fruit to little country villages up in the mountains. I would drive around in a little truck stocked up with all types of fresh fruit, then set up shop outside the pub or the main drag. It was great. Wholesome, even, which is something i needed.
To sydney the day before new years.
Had an accident with a bus. minor damage, but enough to inspire me not to continue my journey to newcastle and stay in sydney.
I got onto a stolen motorbike, and was riding in Stanmore, inner suburbs of sydney. Started being followed by a patrol car.
When he put his lights on after checking my rego plates, i indicated to pull into a side lane. When i got into the lane:
(fact sheet/police statement)
the rider/accused has then changed gears and accelerated heavily causing the vehicle to stand on the rear wheel whilst under acceleration. He has then continued to accelerate in a manner making it obvious of his desire to avoid police. As such a pursuit has then ensued.
The rider has reached a speed of not less than 90kph in the signposted 50kph signposted area; with police in pursuit. When nearing the end of Morton street and whilst under firm acceleration, the cycle has effectively run out of road, locking the rear brakes causing the cycle to skid for some 20 metres prior to turning right into morton avenue.
Again he accelerated heavily along this very narrow lane like thoroughfare. On reaching the intersection of fraser st, the cycle has turned left onto fraser street and could be heard to be under full acceleration. The rider maintained this riding style, and on approach to the intersection of fraser street and wardell rd, and whilst under full acceleration has disregarded the red traffic contro signal facing his cycle and continued throuh the intersection. Other vehicle entering the intersection became aware of the situation and approaching cycle and police vehicles and have yielded away.
The cycle continued east on Fraser st where the speed of the cycle was estimated to be not less than 110kph in the 50ph signposted area.
On approach to the intersection of fraser street and livingstone rd the accused has again braked heavily, locking the brake on the rear wheel and skidding across 3 lanes of traffic in a motocross-style attempt to make the turn left. Here he was narrowly missed by a vehicle travelling south of lovingstone rd. The rider was dismounted from the cycle, and immediately placed under arrest....
etc
etc.
When i almost hit the ute, i tried to find a gear to take off in, stalled, turned around and saw that half a dozen patrol cars were now blocking the intersection, and policemen running at me with guns out. I thought, fuck, the game is up, i put the bike stand down, took my helmet off, and they yelled at me to get on the ground. i knelt on the pavement beside the road, then coppers tackled me down, knelt on my limbs, and handcuffed me.
At the station, whilst i was in custody, they went through my phone, found incriminating messages, made some calls, and arrested my mate.
I have to go to court on the 31st of january.
The whole experience made me realise how much i really really have to become an architect. its so easy to fuck up your whole life in the blink of an eye.
Anyways. speaking of which, i have to go to the solicitors. to finish later.
